WIND Subsea Cable Services, based in Alkmaar, is a global market leader in the logistics, storage, and recovery of subsea cables, primarily for offshore wind farms. With logistics hubs and local teams in ports across Europe, Asia, and North America, WIND operates worldwide and executes projects for renowned developers and owners of offshore wind farms.
During the construction phase of these projects, WIND is responsible for the handling, transportation, and both temporary and long-term storage of subsea (spare) cables. In june 2024, WIND acquired Draftec, a specialist in the design and manufacturing of custom-built equipment for cable handling and offshore operations, supplying leading offshore companies.
In addition, WIND collaborates with its partner Mertech Marine to remove decommissioned cables from the seabed and recycle them. In this way, WIND contributes to the energy transition and a more sustainable future.
WIND employs approximately 85 permanent staff and over 150 cable crew members, while Draftec employs around 50 permanent staff. Together, the combined group generated revenues of approximately €100 million in 2025.
