Robbert van Kampen shares his view on dealmaking in the Global Private Equity Report 2026

Robbert van Kampen Forvis Mazar rapport

Forvis Mazars Group is an international audit, tax and advisory network, active in more than 100 countries, with private equity as one of the sectors it specifically focuses on. Every year, the organisation publishes the Global Private Equity Report, based on input from over 800 private equity professionals across seven regions. The report maps trends in dealmaking, fundraising and value creation.

The picture that emerges from the 2026 edition: after a difficult period, confidence is gradually returning, deal appetite is growing again, and the focus is shifting toward targeted, specialised value creation rather than volume.

Our partner Robbert van Kampen shares his view on this changing dynamic in the report. He points to the importance of a genuine long-term perspective: “We not only say we are a longterm investor, but we actually are. Our fund can run up to 18 years, which is quite unique in the Netherlands.“

Fundraising, too, has changed, according to him: “Fundraising is more difficult than two or three years ago. Many institutional LPs are waiting for cashflow from previous funds. The key is to have a distinctive strategy and demonstrate resilience in challenging markets.” A distinctive strategy and a proven track record make the difference in a market where capital is being deployed more selectively.
